I bought a Delonghi coffee grinder a while ago, and the rubber seal inside the top of the grinder quickly came off. For a while I managed, refitting it every time I used it, but it quickly became difficult. I called De Longhi about getting a new one - not being prepared to buy a new machine just because a seal was broken and was told they didn’t supply spares.
So I bought another one, this time from Krups. This one works much better: it’s a burr grinder, so grinds better, and there are no rubber seals to come off. However, the lid of the bit the coffee grinds into has disappeared, and it doesn’t work without it. I went onto the Krups website and within three clicks was on an accessories site, where I could buy a new lid for the grand sum of 89p. So I bought two new lids, a new container and it all arrives next week. All sorted within 5 minutes.
A service win for Krups, and I will never buy a Delonghi product again.
A new species of primate, a “big-eyed” and venomous slow loris, has been identified in Borneo by researchers. But the new loris is already under threat from the Asian pet trade in part because its “teddy-bear face” make it attractive for illegal poaching, the team of UK and US scientists said.

My brother is moving to Borneo. Maybe I’ll see one of these when I visit him next year.

The summer of crisis, collapse and political disorientation is cancelled. Last night the EU leaders took steps which, though not a complete solution to the crisis, averted its escalation. Crucially Angela Merkel did what she had insisted was impossible: she made major concessions on short-term…
